Our Story

Born in Jamaica.
Built for Africa.

On July 27, 2024, while gathered in Jamaica to celebrate a dear friend's birthday, a group of MSU alumni shared a vision โ€” to create something lasting. Something that would connect African alumni, give back to current students, and honor the bond formed at Midwestern State University.

That vision became the MSU African Students Organization Alumni Association, Inc. On August 1, 2024, we opened our WhatsApp forum to begin building our community. On December 10, 2024, we proudly became an approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the United States of America โ€” and by January 2025, we held our first official meeting.

In our very first year, we awarded four $500 scholarships to deserving African students at MSU โ€” turning our Jamaica dream into real, tangible impact. On December 10, 2026, we proudly celebrate two full years in existence and in good standing. We are profoundly grateful to every alumni member who has believed in and supported this organization from day one.

We had the vision to open MSU ASO Alumni while celebrating our friend's birthday in Jamaica. Our vision focuses on alumni members coming together for a reunion and helping students through our philanthropic events and scholarship programs. We are happy to see our vision attained.
