In August 2025, the MSU ASO Alumni Association received a heartfelt invitation from the Midwestern State University African Student Organization — the current student chapter at our alma mater — to attend their Annual Taste of Africa cultural showcase.

About the Event

Held on Friday, November 7, 2025 in the Legacy Multi-Purpose Room at Midwestern State University, the 2025 edition featured the theme "African Wedding Party" — a vibrant celebration showcasing the beauty, tradition, and joy of a typical African wedding. Guests experienced the full cultural process, from the ceremonial aspects to the lively entertainment, music, and dancing that make African weddings unforgettable.

A Message from the Student Chapter

In her letter to the Alumni Association, ASO President Ayomide Alawode wrote:

"Your presence would be a true honor to us as we celebrate and share our culture with the community. As ASO Alumni, you have paved the way for the legacy we proudly continue, and we would love for you to be part of this memorable evening."

Continuing the Legacy

The Alumni Association extends its appreciation to Ms. Alawode and the entire student chapter for their continued dedication to keeping African culture alive on campus — and for maintaining the connection between current students and the alumni community.

As alumni, we take pride in seeing the ASO student chapter thrive. The current generation of students continues to carry forward the traditions, scholarship, and sense of community that defined our own time at MSU.

We look forward to continued partnership with the student chapter and to attending many more cultural events together in the years ahead.
